COLLISIONS

I create analogue collages using only material sourced directly from magazines. Nothing is digitized, resized, re-colored, or manipulated beyond the physical acts of cutting and arranging. My process begins as a quiet excavation. I move page by page through magazines, listening for images that resonate.

These cutouts are sorted by size and stored in drawers. I graze through the drawers and start pairing images based on visual or emotional resonance. I then begin to assemble the pieces into compositions. The assemblages often feels pulling tarot cards, a kind of oracle divination process revealing what is present in my thoughts, emotions, or memory.

My role is to listen, to follow, and to respond. The result is not simply a visual composition but a personal map created from the remnants of mass media. The backgrounds are constructed with care, using strips of solid color cut from magazines to ground the imagery they support.
